«Lo que dios hizo en seis días/yo lo deshago en uno». The biblical element in Homero Aridjis’ (eco)poetic work

Based on an ecocritical interest in literary representations of the problematic relationship between the human and the non-human, this article aims to investigate the presence of the biblical element in the poetic word of Homero Aridjis (Mexico, 1940). After a first theoretical framework that clarifies the link between the ecological and the religious, an analysis is offered of some poems in which the author resorts to the reworking of elements from the Bible when staging his ecological concerns. The linguistic and literary strategies that construct the poems will be shown, to reflect on the potential of these elements in the creation of new meanings and images.References
